Principals

Mohamed Ahmed, PhD., C.P.G., P.G. is a certified professional geologist with nearly 20 years of experience in the New York City metropolitan area. He has designed and implemented subsurface investigations and is proficient in groundwater modeling, design of groundwater treatment systems, and soil remediation. He has managed numerous projects conducted under the New York State Brownfield Cleanup and spills programs and the New York City “e” designation program. Dr. Ahmed also has extensive experience in conducting regulatory negotiations with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, the NYC Office of Housing Preservation and Development, and the Mayor’s Office of Environmental Remediation. Dr. Ahmed holds advanced degrees in geology and Earth and Environmental Sciences from Brooklyn College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and is a New York State licensed professional geologist.

Mary Manto is an environmental consultant with over 30 years of experience, ranging from project management and director roles in New York City-based consulting firms to management positions in a global engineering company. She has managed regulatory and hazardous waste investigation/remediation projects for both public and private sector clients. Her expertise encompasses state and federal superfund programs, New York State Brownfield sites, insurance cost recovery, environmental compliance and permitting and investigation and remediation of residential, industrial, and commercial properties. Ms. Manto attended Fordham University and received a MPH in Environmental Health from Columbia University.

Matthew Carroll, P.E. is an environmental engineer experienced in all aspects of site assessment and development and implementation of remedial strategies. His experience involves projects from inception through investigation, remediation and closure. His expertise includes soil, soil gas and groundwater remediation; remedial selection and design; preparation of cost estimates; soil characterization for disposal; field/health and safety oversight and preparation of work plans and reports to satisfy the requirements of New York and New Jersey state requirements and New York City “e” designation and restrictive declarations. Mr. Carroll received his Bachelor of Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from New York University. He is a licensed professional engineer in New York.

Our hardworking and innovative team possesses the technical expertise to address complex environmental issues and develop and implement workable and cost-effective solutions.

Tenen Environmental also maintains a strategic partnership with Precision Environmental, Inc., a New York City-based firm founded in 1995, that provides a broad range of services, including: industrial hygiene (indoor air quality surveys, air, dust fungal/bacteria inspections, biological sampling and analysis, compliance audits and health and safety programs); asbestos consulting services (AHERA inspections and management plans, surveys and assessments, bulk and air sampling, abatement design and specifications, OSHA monitoring and regulatory compliance management and permitting); lead paint inspections and risk assessment, bulk paint chip and dust wipe sampling.
